Eid- El - Kabir: FG Declares Friday & Monday As Public Holidays

The Federal Government has declared Friday, 1st and Monday 4th September, 2017 as public holidays to mark Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
This was confirmed by the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, who made the declaration on behalf of the FG in a statement on Monday.
He congratulated Muslim faithful and all Nigerians, urging them to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, prosperity and the stability of Nigeria.
Dambazau also urged citizens to join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, in its avowed determination to build a peaceful and harmonious country, “where the rights of every citizen are protected and guaranteed, as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The Minister assured Nigerians of security and safety in all parts of the country, emphasizing that security agencies have been directed to maintain peace and protect lives and property.

I ’m Happy The Economy Is Improving – President Says

Buhari stated this after receiving briefings from Ministers and the Central Bank of Nigeria about the economy and monetary policies.
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed delight over the ‘improvement’ in the country’s economy, which has been in recession for about two years.
Buhari, who just returned to Nigeria last week after a prolonged sick-leave in London, stated this after receiving briefings from Ministers and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday, August 28.
In the statement issued by Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, the President was briefed for nearly two hours about the economy and monetary policies by the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele and the minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma.
“A delighted president declared that he was pleased with the progress being made on different fronts,” Adesina said.
The country has been battling currency crisis and dollar shortages caused by low oil prices, which is Nigeria’s main source of revenue.
But oil prices have risen since the low prices of 2014, leading to increased receipts and as a result of peace talks in the Niger Delta region, militants have since suspended attacks on oil facilities.
The attacks on pipelines cut crude production by more than a third in 2016.
Nigerian stocks rose to a nearly three-year-high in August, largely on the opening of a market-determined FX trade window by the central bank in April that has prompted some foreign investors to return.

University Of Ilorin Professor Reveals Benefits Of Early Morning Séx ( See The Benefits)

Prof. Musa Yakubu of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State says having sex in the early morning lowers blood pressure and reduces risks of heart attack.
Yakubu said this in a paper: ‘Knocking Down the Barriers to Four O’Clock Activities and Reproductive Inadequacies’ presented at the 163rd Inaugural lecture of the university.
Yakubu said having sexual intercourse three to four times a week was good for love life.
“Research has shown that sex boosts immune system by stimulating the body’s first line of defence and production of immunoglobulin A (IgA), against cold and fever,” he said.
“Immunoglobulin A is one of the most common antibodies in the body system. Antibodies are proteins made by the immune system to fight bacteria, viruses, and toxins.”
Yakubu said that sex also regulates menstruation in women by influencing the levels of lutenizing hormones that controls menstrual period and promote better sleep.
Sexual intercourse, the don explained, releases the feel-good chemical, known as oxytocin, which enhances closeness with one’s partner and makes people feel happier for a longer period of time.
“Lovemaking of about 20 minutes reduces 150 calories,” he said.
The professor of Biochemistry postulated that sex is the most powerful creative force given to human by God for pleasure and deep companionship.
Yakubu, however, noted that any marriage in which the man or woman could not enjoy sexual intercourse or satisfy their partner in bed was a dead marriage.
He said lack of sexual satisfaction had led to the collapse of many marriages in Nigeria, and urged couples to seek for solutions to the problem.

Charles Oputa And Others Storms EFCC Office To Demand Alison Madueke’s Repatriation

Charles Oputa, well known as Charly Boy and his OurMumuDonDo protesters wants Denziani Alison Madueke back in Nigeria.
On arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari back Iinto the country, the OurMumuDonDo protesters has now dumped the sit out ‘resume or resign’ protest for Bring Back ‘Diezani Alison Madueke’ protest. The protesters lead by the Area Fada as fondly called stormed the EFCC headquarters in Abuja to demand the repatriation of the former minister for petroleum to face corruption charges in the country.

OMG!! See What Alison- madueke’s Loot Can Fund In Nigeria

The Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG) on Thursday in Abuja, said the stolen funds traced to former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, could fund infrastructure development in the country.
Specifically, the group said in a statement by its Chairman, Austin Braimoh, and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke, that government could build six world-class airports in each geo-political zone with part of the funds.
It said that the recovered loot was also enough to have funded agricultural projects that would have generated employment for Nigerian youths.
It added that the N47.2 billion and
487.5 million dollars in cash and property traced to Alison-Madueke by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissison (EFCC) were also enough to complete the Lagos-Kano and Lagos-Calabar rail lines.
It recalled that the Federal Government was already seeking loans for the rail projects.
The group called on Nigerians to join hands to condemn the massive looting of the nation’s treasury by officials of previous administrations.
It expressed belief that the loot traced to the former minister was a “far cry’’ from what she and others in the past governments pilfered from the national treasury. According to it, these monies stashed in foreign accounts forced the Nigerian economy to suffer instant depression.
The group recalled that Mrs. Madueke and her associates, including Kola Aluko, Jide Omokore, were currently being tried by the US government for allegedly laundering over 1.7 billion dollars.
It urged Nigerians to have a collective resolve to fight what it described as “psychotic and mindless’’ type of looting exhibited by indicted government officials in their days in government.
This, it said, could halt the craving to loot public treasury by government officials. The group reminded Nigerians that though the fight against corruption was the foremost policy thrust of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, “the fight might not attain maximum result unless Nigerians willingly resolve to join in it’’.
“This synergy is necessary so as to fight the art of looting and other forms of mismanagement in government.’’
It stated that all concerned Nigerians should be organising widespread protests to condemn looting of government funds by officials, past and present, as often revealed by the anti-graft agencies.
It advised that Nigerians should also stop dissipating energies on attacking Buhari, “the main fighter of corruption’’ over his health challenge.
The group commended anti-graft agencies, particularly EFCC, for their sustained efforts in exposing corruption in Nigeria. It appealed to the agencies not to give up but to ensure the prosecution of culprits looting of the nation’s treasury.

Why I Collapsed During Anti- Buhari Protest – Charly Boy Opens Up

Popular Nigerian entertainer, Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy has said that he slumped during the anti-Buhari protest following an attack from over 200 Policemen.
According to Charly, the seat-out protest turned violent when over 200 policemen attacked about 10 participants at the Millennium Park in Abuja.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Post, Charly Boy said that despite getting security clearance, for the protest by a civil society group under the platform of “OurMumuDonDo,” the policemen stormed the venue and started “tear gassing” and physically assaulting them.
He said: “Our country is finished. We were only 10 people attacked by over 200 policemen. They were tear gassing us.
“Today was actually meant to be a sit-out, we planned to gather in one place to discuss the problems we have and about the way forward but all of a sudden, we were attacked by policemen. They came with teargas, water cannon.
“Even the journalist from silver bird that was brutalized is still in the hospital, they damaged his camera, all in an attempt to dispatch us. Everything got ugly when they started to throw teargas. After this we dispatched.
“We did get the police clearance and we told them it was going to be for one week. We went to all the security arms, they were all with us. I just wonder what happened today.
“I use to feel very comfortable with the Nigerian police until today even if other people feel otherwise.
“We have a right to protest as long as it is peaceful, if you are writing to the police, it is just to inform them and not to get their permission, you write so they can give you cover. It is our right to gather, it is also our right to ask questions.
“We were only 10 people and yesterday we were like 200, yet they did not attack us, so I’m wondering what actually went wrong today.
“When we confronted them, the only thing they told us was that the protest was being viewed from all over the world, but the world knows that Nigeria has a problem.”

Presidency Reveals What Will Happen To Anyone Who Makes Hate Speech

The minister of interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) has said that a bill that would ensure the prosecution of people who engage in hate speech is underway.
Daily Trust reports that Dambazau said this at the National Secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while fielding questions from journalists.
The minister, who was at the APC secretariat to brief the National Working Committee (NWC) on the activities of his ministry, said a draft bill had been submitted to the Ministry of Justice.
He said hate speech must never be allowed in Nigeria since nobody could determine the tribe he or she would belong to.
Asked to explain the reasons it was difficult to prosecute those perpetrating hate speech, he said: “We just submitted a draft bill to the ministry of justice on hate speech. That draft speech is supposed to go as an executive bill after getting to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
“That draft speech contains the laws and punishment for hate speech.
“Hate speech should not be allowed in this country, everybody is entitled to belong to the religion he believes in.
“I mean people don’t choose the tribe to be, that’s how God brought him and there is absolutely no reason for hate speech.
“So, if the national assembly passes that law, certainly anybody who is engaged in hate speech will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.”
On the recent attacks on a church in Anambra State, the minister said he is still awaiting a detailed report on the incident, but added that he had spoken with the governor who confirmed that the issue arose from two persons from the same village in the South-east.
Dambazau also dismissed the reports of recruitment scandal in his ministry. He, however, said that the immigration is currently recruiting 1112 to complete the balance of those recalled from the 2015 exercise.
He said: “There is no recruitment scandal. I believe what is happening is just what has happened to other organizations. We have some people with criminal minds either through facebook or social media in general deceiving people who are desperately looking for jobs to tell them they can offer them jobs.
“What we are doing now is recruitment in the immigration and the recruitment in immigration is an uncompleted business that we met in 2015. Remember that 2000 persons were recruited and they were normally observed to which they were dispersed and so on.
“When we came onboard, we studied the situation and we found out it was necessary for us to recall them and re-assess them because some of those are normally bothered on the issue of fake certificate, over age and so on.
“When we call them, we advertise. About 1500 of them reported and we re-assessed 1500 that reported. Out of which, we get 888 that scape through. So, the balance of 1112 is what we advertise for recruitment and that recruitment is online. It is free. Nobody should pay for it.
“This is where we are now because we have to allow six weeks for advertisement for people to take advantage of the use of the portal. Now, we have closed that. What we are going to do is to look at those who are qualified to be invited for interview which will be done state by state.”

Baba Don Forget!! You Told Yar ’adua To Resign , Now It’s Your Turn – Group Reminds Buhari

Protesters have accused Presidential aides of holding President Buhari captive.
The #resumeOrResign protesters who called on President Buhari to resign said it is time the president demonstrate his” touted integrity” because he is “incapacitated and can no longer rule the country.”
The group also reminded the president that he once asked late President Musa Yar’Adua to resign or be impeached over the latter’s state of health.
Deji Adeyanju, co-convener of the protest said President Buhari should leave office if he knew what integrity meant.
Adeyanju disclosed this on the fourth day of their protest in Abuja on Thursday August 10 at the Unity Fountain, Maitama.
He said: “We must tell the man (Buhari) who said he had integrity, the man who asked Yar’Adua to resign in 2010 when he was sick, the same thing he said to the late president is the same request we are making to him. A President that has been sick for 94 days would resign if he has integrity.”
He added that “posterity would be unkind to all those that visited Buhari but failed to advise him to do the right thing because of selfish reasons.”
A group of protesters supporting President Muhammadu Buhari have taken over the street of the federal capital Abuja, on the morning of Thursday, August 10.
The protesters who are members of the Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative group were spotted at Unity Fountain carrying placards and singing solidarity songs in support of the ailing president.

ASUU Strike Looms Over Controversial 2009 Agreement

University teachers are set for another strike over the controversial 2009 agreement they reached with the Federal Government among other issues.
A meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of ASUU will hold today in Abuja ahead of the action.
Yesterday, all chapters of the union nationwide held a congress as directed by its national body to decide whether or not to go ahead with the planned strike.
The options given to them are: Whether it should be total and indefinite strike, one month strike, one week notice, and no strike at all.
This followed the directive sent to branches by ASUU National President Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi as he was mandated by the NEC meeting held at the Nasarawa State University (NSU).
Chairman ASUU-Lagos State University (LASU) Dr Isaac Akinloye Oyewunmi said yesterday that the chapter resolved in favour of “total and indefinite strike”.
In August last year, the union threatened strike over thengovernment’s failure to implement the 2009 agreement.
According to the reports gathered by Eyes Of Lagos, Coordinator of ASUU (Lagos Zone) Prof Olusoji Sowande, said the union was tired because efforts to get the agreement honoured were fruitless.
The union listed some of the unresolved issues as: Breach of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the 2009 FG/ASUU Agreement on financing of state universities; breach of the conditions of service; refusal to honour the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) and re -negotiation of the agreement.
In January, ASUU staged a one-week warning strike.
Union officials said the Federal Government is owing universities over N880 billion in intervention fund.
Other issues according to ASUU oficials are: The Federal Government’s foot-dragging over ‘funds for the revitilisation of public universities, non-release of NUPEMCO operational licence, non-payment of earned academic allowances, payment of fractions/non-payment of salaries, retired professors and their salaries and university staff schools’.
The official said ASUU explored all channels to make the Federal Government see reasons but said: “It seems the Federal Government is more concerned with buying exotic vehicles for the National Assembly while public education and lecturers continue to suffer owing to dilapidated infrastructure.”
He said the union was angry at the failure of the Federal Government to release the operational licence for the union’s pension managers after collecting N1 billion since two years ago.
“Till date the government is owing the intervention funds to the tune of N880 billion. When we approached them for licensing of Nigerian Universities Pension Management Company (NUPEMCO) , they asked us to go and bring registration fee, which is supposed to be N150million. Till date, we have paid government N1 billion and our money has been with them for two years and they are not saying anything.
None of this pension administrators can fulfill the University Miscellaneous Act which says university professors must retire with their full money.
The money must have been invested and yielding interest for somebody. We are demanding our licence and funding of public universities.”

Why I Don ’t Always Respond To Fayose ’s Comment – Oshiomhole

The immediate past governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole has berated the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose for persistently criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari over his ill-health.
Addressing a group of journalists, Oshiomhole said he always doesn’t like to join issues with Fayose as he (Fayose) does not really make sense.
Oshiomole maintained that the President took the right step by transferring powers to his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo before embarking on his medical vacation.
He stressed that despite the mirage of criticism against the President by Fayose, some governors on the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, can testify to the fact that Buhari is actually sick.
According to Oshiomhole, “I don’t like to discuss Fayose because when he makes such statements, it reminds me of an Igbo proverb which says that if a responsible man is having his bath after a hard days work and he removes his cloth in a local bathroom and a mad man carries his cloth and the man bathing seeing that the mad man has carried your cloth and you run out Unclad pursuing him.
The people will see two Unclad people running and they will say two mad men. So sometimes you just allow the mad man to carry your cloths and go rather than joining him in his madness.
“That is my comment on Fayose. One of my very good friends wrote something in the papers criticising the pictures taken by the president and the APC governors. He was saying that may be a broadcast would have been better.
“But I ask, if the head of a family is sick and some people went to see him, first there is nothing unusual about that to visit the sick in their sick bed or in their homes, to show that you care. I believe most Nigerians are praying for the quick recovery of the president, so if people go there and sat with the president and took a picture it shows that yes the president is sick but it is not as bad as what people are saying.
“Some were carrying rumours that he was on life support but people have seen that at least that is not true. As at the time he wrote that piece only APC governors visited but now some PDP governors also went and I hope he will write another article.
“For me, the president has been conscious of the provisions of the constitution and had complied in full with the extant provisions of the constitution by admitting to the fact that for now that he is ill, and he needs medication somewhere, that he has asked his deputy, in line with the provisions of the constitution to act on his behalf.
“I don’t see how the president can be much more transparent than that. I am happy that some PDP governors have also gone to see him. but what many of us do not know is that there have been governors who have been absent from their states for three months, even on health grounds in PDP that I know, and they came back from those long medical vacations to assume duties and today they are alive.
“So as they say the sick is not necessary next and for me we should all continue in our honest prayers and pray for the quick recovery of our president and not inhuman comments by some persons. We had a president under the PDP who clearly was unable to even recognise people and they were debating whether he signed a budget or he did not sign a budget.
“But you know in this environment people have short memory. Those who were very active then, purporting that the president signed a budget which he was not in a position to sign, and mimicking a voice in BBC, they are also talking now.
Now we have a president who sat with both PDP and APC governors and I think that closes the issue of the health of the president.”

There Are No Killer Anti- Malaria Drugs In Nigeria – NAFDAC Reveals

The National Agency for Food and Drug
Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has
said that there are no €˜killer anti-malaria
drugs in Nigeria.
The Acting Director-General, NAFDAC, Dr.
Yetunde Oni, who stated this yesterday at a
news conference in Lagos, said the reports in
the social media on the ‘kidney-killer’
malaria drugs were false as there are no such
drugs in the country.
Against the backdrop of the dangers posed by
the drugs, the Senate had flayed the NAFDAC
and Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON)
for not adequately waging the war against the
influx of fake and sub-standard items into the
country.
The NAFDAC boss said the allegedly banned
drugs are oral monotherapies containing
single Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients
(API) such as Artesunate as contained in
Arinate tablet, Amodiaquine contained in
Comoquine, Dihydroartemisinin contained in
Alaxin tablets and Pyrimethamine contained in
Daraprim tablets which are not recommended
for the treatment of malaria in Nigeria.
She said the agency is committed to the well-
being of Nigerians and so wishes to douse the
tension and correct the misinformation on the
social media and mainstream media about the
banned drugs.
Oni said: “We want to douse the tension and
correct the misinformation on the social and
mainstream media about the 42 anti-malaria
medicines purportedly banned by the
European Union (EU) but allegedly circulating
in the country.
The Acting DG, therefore, urged Nigerians to
use the recommended anti-malarial medicine
Artemisin Combination Therapies (ACTs) for
the treatment of malaria, which is in line with
the guidelines according to the WHO and the
Nigeria National Anti-malarial Treatment
Policy.
She, however, noted that with the progress
made in the anti-counterfeiting technology
device (Scratch and Text) put in place by the
agency to monitor fake drugs, the agency
would in some weeks deploy software on
phones to checkmate the status of any
NAFDAC regulated products.
Responding on the use of chloroquine as an
anti-malarial drug, Director, Registration and
Regulation Affairs, NAFDAC, Mrs. Titi Owolabi,
said though the drug is in the market, it does
not serve as anti-malaria as it has its own
functions.
She urged Nigerians to stop using the drug in
the treatment of malaria as it serves another
purpose.

I WIll Not Contest For Presidency Until 10 Million Nigerians Endorse Me – Okorocha Says

ROCHAS Okorocha, Imo State Governor, has
said that he will not contest for presidential
election at any given time unless 10 million
Nigerians endorse him.
Okorocha gave the statement in Owerri, the
Imo State capital, when he addressed youth
delegates from all the geo-political zones in
the country, who paid him a courtesy visit.
He said that, as a child, the north gave him
education and secured his future and was
born of Igbo patronage, raised by the north
and empowered by the west, hence, he
needed nothing more than to be a detribalised
Nigerian.
Okorocha also said that he is in politics not
for personal aggrandisement but for the sheer
glory of it and for the reason that he came to
serve selflessly.
According to him, “I will not run in 2019 if
President Muhammadu Buhari will be running.
Even at that, I will not also run at any given
time unless 10 million Nigerians endorse me.
“May I remind all of you that my joy this
evening has no bounds for the singular fact
that the Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw, northern
minorities, western and eastern minorities,
Muslims and Christians and others can sit
down in a roundtable and speak like members
of one family. If only for this, my mission for
this nation is today achieved.
“I am an Igbo man with Igbo parentage. I was
born and raised in the north. The north gave
me education, guaranteed my childhood, even
when I was not worthy to be called anybody in
this world.”

striker, Kylian Mbappe.
Madrid want the 18-year-old sensation, who
scored 26 times in his breakthrough season

the only recognized striker in the squad.
“He is very good,” Zidane told ESPN about
Mbappe.
“He is a talent, he is 18 years old, he has

“He is very good, very good as a player and
has shown it all year, but he is not a player of

you more.”
Monaco have however threatened to report
“important” clubs to FIFA, over “multiple”
